Expanded Text Ads

by | Jul 12, 2019 | Google Ads Formats | 0 comments

Similar to text ads, expanded text ads promote products or services on the Google Network. Expanded text ads have three headline fields with a 30-character limit, the third one being optional. Besides, the ad includes two 90-character description fields and a URL display.

For example, if you’re a vendor using two headlines that show your brand name and official site, you can add a third headline showing shipping details, promoting special offers, or a call to action for customers to buy your product or service.

The cool thing about expanded text ads is that they are mobile-optimized. A preview of your ad in both desktop and mobile format is generated for you while you’re creating your expanded text ad.

As you can see in the example above, Expanded Text Ads have more presence as they are greater in size with larger headlines and a longer description.

Now that you more about Expanded Text Ads, here are some of the things that you can do to take advantage of them in your campaigns:

Headlines

Use the headline hierarchy to your advantage. Headline #1 is the most important. Don’t mix it up. This means you should use your most important communications in the headlines.

More on text, make sure copy is catching.

  • Don’t misuse the other headline. Use it to say something different. Adding unique text to describe a product or a service will contribute to your CTR.
  • Don’t overdo it with keywords.
  • Don’t forget to include a value proposition and a call to action in your descriptions.
  • Use emotional triggers to lure in potential customers. Again, make a compelling offer in a way that lets you connect with the reader.

Devices

Expanded Text Ads are ideal for mobile devices. Consider that they will be available on all devices when writing your copy so that there are no lost connections.

Remember, devices means “on the go,” so make your messaging short and sweet.

As mentioned above, you can preview ads would look like on your desktop and mobile devices when creating a new ad.

Conclusion

Expanded text ads are available on both the Google Search Network and the Google Display Network. They will contribute to any of your campaigns. To learn more about having someone manage your campaigns, reach out to us directly to discuss your business objectives.
